This template reads its data from the item sitelinked to the page (see Help:Contributing/semanticDynamicContent). Empty statements render empty rows — not an error. Birth/death rows stay empty while the person is alive. Place rows read the OpenStreetMap external-id statements ( / ) and render as openstreetmap.org links — the place facts live in OpenStreetMap, picked from the Nominatim search combobox on Special:AddPerson. The image cell shows the item's image statement via ; the optional portrait parameter (a full File:… link) overrides it when set by hand.
