This template reads its data from the item sitelinked to the page (see Help:Contributing/semanticDynamicContent). Empty statements render empty rows — not an error. Birth/death rows stay empty while the person is alive. Place rows are rendered by / : the OpenStreetMap place fact (picked from the Nominatim search combobox on Special:AddPerson) shows as its human-readable display label linked to openstreetmap.org — the label is stored next to the OSM id at creation/update (Special:AddPerson / Special:UpdatePerson), with the raw id as the fallback text. The image cell shows the item's image statement via ; the optional portrait parameter (a full File:… link) overrides it when set by hand.
