This page is for the translator role: you translate wiki pages into the official languages — en, fr, eo. The Help:Contributing/languages page explains the two mechanisms.

Translating a page

  1. Open Special:Translate.
  2. Pick the page group and the target language.
  3. Translate the units and save.

Preview your result with ?uselang= plus the language code at the end of the page URL, for example ?uselang=fr.

What not to translate

  • tvar placeholders — copy them unchanged.
  • Markup and code.
  • Entity IDs (P1, Q6) and language codes.

House rules

  • Machine translation is a starting point, not a final answer: always read and correct machine-translated units.
  • Keep terminology consistent with the entity terms (labels/descriptions) in the data layer — see the entity terms section on the Help:Contributing/languages page.
